An Artful Collaboration Between Cultures, Space, and Joy
A Take Me to the Moon curated event in collaboration with Yayasan Peduli Setan
At Take Me to the Moon, we believe that travel is more than movement — it’s a way to connect, to feel, to create. Rooted in our mission to craft soulful in-villa experiences and support conscious luxury, we proudly hosted La Gioia: The Art of Joy, an immersive art and networking evening held at the breathtaking Villa Joyia, a private residence nestled in the lush jungle of Ubud and one of our valuable partners.
More than an exhibition, La Gioia was a collaborative moment — one where local creativity, intentional hospitality, and cultural dialogue came together to inspire meaningful exchange.
A Platform for Raw Expression
The art was presented by Yayasan Peduli Setan, a collective redefining how and where contemporary art is shared in Bali. Known for taking over unconventional spaces — from unfinished malls to cozy cafés — this collective exists to challenge the conventional and bring art closer to life itself.
As Agra Utari, one of the organizers and the voice behind the collective, shares:
“Yayasan Peduli Setan — loosely translated as ‘The Foundation that Cares for the Evils’ — may sound provocative, but it carries a deeper meaning. As Balinese contemporary artists, we’ve often been misunderstood — labeled as lost or veering toward the ‘dark side.’ The name reclaims that narrative. In Indonesian slang, peduli setan also means ‘not giving a damn’ — a perfect reflection of our original attitude: rebellious, unapologetic, and uncompromising.”
This spirit resonated beautifully with Villa Joyia’s architecture — a space of contrast, emotion, and quiet elegance. Each room, terrace, and passageway became a frame for artistic conversation, curated to speak to both heart and environment.
The Joy That Binds Us
The exhibition’s theme, La Gioia — Italian for joy and Italian like the owner of the Villa — embodied what both the artists and Take Me to the Moon seek to share through experience: connection, beauty, and feeling.
As Agra explains:
“Despite the variety of mediums and artistic voices, joy became the common thread. Joy in nature, in the creative process, in the courage to share something raw. Joy as a quiet rebellion and a form of freedom.”
“With this exhibition, we hoped to create more than just visual engagement — we hoped to offer a feeling. If even one piece connected with a guest and brought them closer to the joy they seek, then the work has done its job. Just as it has done for us.”
A Celebration of Sustainability through Culture
For Take Me to the Moon, sustainability is not just about eco-awareness — it’s about creating real connection. That means working with local artists, honouring cultural heritage, and giving back to the communities that make Bali so uniquely magical.
Hosting La Gioia is part of our broader mission to merge lifestyle, hospitality, and local culture — whether it’s through art, wellness, or bespoke in-villa services. This event was a celebration of that philosophy: immersive, thoughtful, and filled with purpose.
